MAN INJURED IN ATV ACCIDENT IN COAL TOWNSHIP
A man from Ranshaw who was driving an All-Terrain Vehicle in the woods in Coal Township was injured after colliding with another man riding a motorcycle Saturday after 4pm. According to the News Item, 28 year old Kyle Gulliver was on a Yamaha 450 and traveled through a blind spot at the corner of a hill in a wooded area north or Tractor Supply and collided with 16 year old Sean Bradley who was coming from the other direction. Gulliver was treated at the scene and was then transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. No word on his or Bradley’s condition today. The scene was cleared just before 5:30pm Saturday.
TWO WOMEN ARRESTED AFTER STARTING A BAR FIGHT
Two women were arrested after they allegedly attacked two patrons inside the Brandon Café on Washington Blvd July 31st. According to the Sun gazette, police say 26 year old Rashonda Mack, and 37 year old Dominique Jett took three other women inside the bar and caused the disturbance that was eventually thwarted by other customers, but allegedly caused some minor injuries to a victim. Police say Mack and Jett waited outside the bar after they were thrown out, slashing the tires of the victim’s car and waiting for them to exit. They were arraigned in Lycoming County Court and each released on 50 thousand dollars bail.
WILLIAMSPORT SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT ABOUT PARK USE
As improvements continue in Williamsport to upgrade parks and outdoor spaces, city officials have activated a survey to gather public opinion of the jobs so far and ideas for the future. According to the Sun Gazette, the survey asks about park use, the reasons for visiting or not, and programs that are taken advantage of. They seek feedback on some of the projects already complete or being done in Williamsport including; the band shell rehabilitation, an outdoor fitness court at Memorial Park, a bike park pump track and skills course at Shaw Park, the upcoming pickle ball courts at Elm Park and other areas. PA ELK CAM IS LIVE
You no longer have to travel to Elk County to see the elk; The Pennsylvania Elk Cam is live and you can watch it from anywhere with wifi. According to the Pa. Game Commission the Elk camera has sound, so viewers can hear the bugling males and other nature sounds like coyotes, crickets and owls. The camera near Benzette is live 24 7 and can be found by searching PA elk cam. Experts say the best time to see and hear elk is at dawn and dusk.
CAR HITS HOUSE OFF OF ROUTE 405, IGNITES FIRE
Route 405 was closed last night in both directions after a crash into a house caused a fire just before 7pm. According to the Daily Item, police say a single vehicle struck a house in the 4000 block of Route 405 in West Chillisquaque Township, and started the blaze. The county coroner was on the scene which may indicate a fatality, but no word on the victims’ identity. Fire companies from Milton, Turbot Township, Warrior Run, White Deer, Winfield, and Mifflinburg were on the scene. According to 511pa.com, Route 405 between Route 45 and Housels Run Road is reopened today.
MAN WHO ATTACKED ANOTHER WITH HAMMER FOUND GUILTY
A man from Wilkes Barre who was on trial for assaulting a man in front of the Shamrock Grill in Williamsport with a hammer in 2021, has been found guilty for all counts but attempted homicide this week in Lycoming County Court. According to the Sun Gazette, court records say 44-year-old Kareem Anthony Hutt struck a victim with a hammer 8 times after chasing him on the city street which caused a fractured skull and brain bleed.. After the assault, the victim was convinced to take medical treatment and later became unconscious after suffering a seizure. He testified at the trial Monday. Hutt was found guilty for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of an instrument of crime, and other assault charges. His sentencing hearing is October 9th.
SOME PUBLIC NOT IN FAVOR OF SOLAR FARM NEAR TURBOTVILLE
The few members of the public gave their opinion at a public hearing this week about the solar array project proposed by Susquehanna Solar LLC near Turbotville, and it was pretty much negative feedback. According to the Daily Item, the solar company is seeking permission through a conditional use application to install 59,000 solar panels on 79 acres of land between Turbotville and Lewis Township. Many of the opinions of those in attendance were against the project; from traffic and noise concerns, to compromising agriculture and property value. Susquehanna Solar will have 45 days to consider the application and make their decision. The project is expected to produce about $20,000 in tax revenue for the borough.
LOCK HAVEN BOAT REGATTA STARTS TOMORROW
Starting Friday, the Lock Haven Labor Day Regatta begins, and will celebrate boating for the 53rd year on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River with live music, a carnival and lots of racing. According to the Lock Haven Express, nightly music starts Friday at 6pm at the Stephen Hill Memorial Stage, with opening ceremonies Saturday morning at 10am, and then three days of featured boat racing with the American Power Boat Association.
