Freddi Hammer (also known as Frederica) only embraced her father, Frederic’s namesake after she started using it as her DJ name as a Communication Major at Mansfield University in 1987 and later on during her noon to 6pm show at WNBT in Wellsboro, PA, because by young-adulthood it seemed to be a lot cooler to be a girl named Fred.  
Freddi then embraced the transient DJ lifestyle for a few years after 1991, by moving from North Central PA to Dover, DE to Milwaukee WI and back to Tioga County once more before getting a traffic reporter job and settling in Charlotte, NC with her (then) husband, welcoming their two children (Griffin and CC) for 20 years. After the kids finished high school, Freddi returned to her Pennsylvania roots in 2018 to work with Backyard Broadcasting and to be closer to her extended family in Lancaster, PA, including her aging father Fred, who passed away at home in July of 2020. Freddi’s daughter, CC, is a sophomore at BYU in Provo, UT and her son Griffin is currently an emergency response team member at UPMC.
