MAN TRAPPED UNDER TRACTOR RESCUED
A 20 year old man from Millville survived being trapped under a farm tractor that went down an embankment and overturned Friday just after 10 am. According to the Sun Gazette, Lairdsville police say the unnamed victim was unloading the tractor near Magargel Lane in Franklin Township when its brakes gave out causing it to go down about 40 feet before overturning in a less than 2-foot deep stream. The man was able to keep his head above water close to an hour while emergency crews arrived, used airbags to lift the tractor and remove him. He was transported to Carl G. Renn Elementary School from he was ultimately flown to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted in an unknown condition. Officials said the man is lucky to be alive.
STABBING INVESTIGATED IN NEWBERRY
Police are investigating after emergency crews were called to the Newberry neighborhood Thursday night for reports of a stabbing. According to the Sun Gazette, police and paramedics were called to West Fourth Street and Wayne Avenue around 8:30pm. A 17 year old male and a 16 year old female were involved in the incident, and police say they struggled over a knife – both receiving superficial wounds. The female victim ran to the Newberry address before police arrived. Both teens declined to be transported to a hospital and were treated and the scene for their minor injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
THREE NEW EV CHARGING STATIONS ANNOUNCED
Three new federally funded electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have opened in Clinton and Columbia Counties with funds from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure or NEVI program. According to PennDOT, the additional stations in Kylertown, Mill Hall and Mifflinburg bring the total charging stations along I-80 to 11. Pennsylvania is tied for second in the nation in stations built using the federal funds. Get information about the NEVI program at evstates.org.
SHICK JUNIOR ROTC TO HELP CLEAN UP CAMERON PARK THIS WEEK
The Junior ROTC at Shikellamy School District is working together with the city of Sunbury to clean Cameron Park in downtown Sunbury for spring. According to the Daily Item, Sunbury city officials say at 9am, April 23rd, students and other volunteers will assist the mayor’s office, department of public works, parks and recreation so they can get ready for the summer months. City administrators expressed gratitude for the volunteers that help beautify Cameron Park every year.
FORMER MUNCY MAN MUST STAY UNDER INTENSE SUPERVISION
A man who formerly lived in Muncy and was accused of sexual offenses against children, will remain on intense supervised bail for now. According to North Central PA dot com, James Nathan Lakes, now of Coudersport was in Lycoming County court last week requesting a change in his bail and supervision status, which the Assistant District Attorney opposed, saying a hearing would be needed to change Lakes’ status, including a chance for the victims to have assay in the matter. Lakes has been charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child, corruption of minors and more and is free on 50 thousand dollars bail and is under certain visitation stipulations with family members, including a GPS monitor. His trial comes up in August.
SENTENCING FOR MAN CONVICTED OF DRUG MANUFACTURING
A man from Danville was sentenced in federal court Monday for possession of controlled substances and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances after being convicted in November of 2024. According to the Daily Item, court records say 53 year old Anthony D. Bressi manufactured more than 150 kilograms of fentanyl at a lab in East Buffalo Township, Union County. Bressi, who was accused with two other conspirators, was previously convicted, and had served time for manufacturing methamphetamine and explosives.

PAGEANT CONTESTANTS SOUGHT FOR MILTON HARVEST FESTIVAL
Families in Milton are being asked to consider being part of the Milton Harvest Festival Little Miss and Junior Miss Pageant this fall. According to the Standard Journal, Little Miss contestants are between 5 and 8 years old. Junior Miss candidates are between 9 and 12, and will perform at the Milton Area High School auditorium showing skills on on personality/appearance, poise, talent and communications. Contestants must perform a 2 minute talent, and must be available for events during the Milton Harvest Festival. The deadline to sign up is June 30th.
