MAN ARRESTED FOR CALLING IN MULTIPLE THREATS ACROSS PA
A man who is suspected to be behind numerous threats called in across the north central region of PA is now in custody after he was apprehended by state police yesterday. According to state police reports, 23 year old Gabriel M. Drumheller of Sunbury called in various bomb and shooting threats to targets that included Shikellamy State Park, Burger King in Sunbury, the federal penitentiary in Allenwood and other locations. Drumheller allegedly gave false names when he would call his victims. Drumheller has now been charged with multiple counts of terrorists threats causing evacuation of a building, and public inconvenience, six counts of risking catastrophe, and more along with 17 counts of false reports. He is at the Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $100,000 monetary bail.
HEATING OIL TRUCK CRASH SPILLED OIL IN MOUNT CARMEL
An undetermined amount of heating oil spilled on South Quince Street in Mount Carmel after the truck delivering it slid and crashed due to the icy conditions. According to the News Item, police and fire, HAZMAT and other members of the Northumberland County Department of Public Safety were called to the scene just before noon Wednesday. Mount Carmel police say the B&B oil truck from Kulpmont was stopped on South Quince and started to slide on the ice, crossing over 5th Street, crashing and breaking a part on the truck which caused the spill. The driver and co-worker in the truck were not injured. It took officials about 4 hours to clear the scene.
GRANT FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS IN TIOGA COUNTY
A 250 thousand dollar grant was given to the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health for the expansion of after school programs. According to North Central PA dot com, the Building Opportunity Through Out-of-School Time or BOOST program will now be able to expand to two additional school districts and serve over 120 kindergarten through 6th grade students. The grant will go toward staffing costs and resource expenses.
UNITED WAY GIFTS FUNDS FROM CUTTER’S HOT STOVE BANQUET
Last week’s 17th Hot Stove Banquet, held by the Williamsport Crosscutters at the Genetti in Williamsport raised over 15 thousand dollars for the Lycoming County United Way. In addition to special guests from Major League Baseball and ESPN, the late Tom Dempsey was recognized during the event with his induction into the Bowman Field Hall of Fame for the work he did to secure state funding for renovations to Historic Bowman Field. ACCIDENT SHUTS DOWN I-80 EAST THIS MORNING
Both lanes of I-80 eastbound were closed between the Route 220 /Lock Haven interchange in Clinton County and the Mile Run interchange in Union County due to a vehicle crash that shut down the interstate around 3:30 a.m. today. A detour using Route 220 and Interstate 180 was used through this morning. PennDOT says I-80 has been reopened after the multi-vehicle wreck blocked the interstate lanes this morning.
ALLEGED RAPIST OUT ON BAIL AGAIN FOR ANOTHER CRIME
A Williamsport man accused of raping an unconscious person last September is free on bail. According to North Central PA dot com, 65 year old James Esposito Jr who owns AJ’s Tree Service and Landscaping allegedly followed his victim home after seeing her at a local private club and once asked in for a drink, may have put a sedative into the drink of the victim, leading to the assault. The woman self-reported the rape at the end of September at UPMC Williamsport where she was examined and treated. Esposito had been out on 25 thousand dollars unsecured bail from an incident in May when that assault took place. He is expected in court in March for his pretrial hearing.
MARYLAND MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT, RESISTING ARREST
A 19 year old man from Baltimore was taken into custody last Wednesday after paramedics had to sedate him since he was agitated and allegedly drunk, spitting on officers and resisting arrest. According to the Sun Gazette, Matthew Kane Green was arrested by state police January 15th at the 2400 block of Lycoming Creek Road. As he was being placed in the cruiser police say Green thrashed uncontrollably, and once at the Montoursville Barracks, beat his own head against a wall causing injury. Green was transported to UPMC Williamsport after he was discovered to have lost consciousness, but had to be injected with a sedative before he was treated by hospital staff. He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment plus one count each of institutional vandalism and underage drinking. His bail was set at 50 thousand dollars.
RIVERBOAT RALLY IN FEBRUARY
An annual Riverboat rally put on by the Central Susquehanna Riverboat Society will take place February 8th at the Sunbury Social Club on Packer Island, Sunbury. According to North Central PA dot com, the event is held to raise funds to help build a paddlewheel riverboat that will operate out of Pineknotter Park in Northumberland. There will be entertainment, raffles and more with information about discounted admission tickets before February 5th at the Central Susquehanna Riverboat Society’s Facebook page.
