LIVE MUSIC

Friday February, 28th - (9PM-Close) - FREE SHOW!!!

The Ameros (Post Cave / Pre-Apocalyptic Rock)

“The Ameros from Albany, New York has a catalog that transitions across several styles. They are as capable of busting into the soundspace with a big, gritty guitar under a rap explosion as they are to deliver something folk or southern rock. Name Your Price for Freedom is a melodic blues rock anthem fit for the end of an arena set, while several other pieces are evocative of 60s singer songwriterbands. Sometimes the sound is undeniably funk. They incite and move. Their songs are present and political.”
- Melissa L. Walker, Utica Music and Arts Festival

The Ameros are a rock, reggae, hip-hop, and funk powerhouse, that combine three part harmony, intricate guitar work, and incendiary leads to take the audience on a journey that spans several genres.

Their influences include:
Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Dispatch, Sublime, Jurassic 5, Dream Theater, Lynryd Skynryd, CSNY, Days of the New, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Steve Vai, Joe Bonamassa, Bob Marley, Rage Against the Machine, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

..
At the bar:
Classic Sazeracs with Bulleit rye, absinthe and creole bitters
Herdicanes with fresh-squeezed OJ and housemade grenadine

In the dining room:
Cow-A-Hen chicken and sausage gumbo
Cajun-barbecued shrimp with dirty rice
Grilled ribeye Tchoupitoulas—cajun-rubbed with currant demiglace and crispy onions
Creole sole meuniere with local sweet corn maque choux and spiced pecans
Bananas Foster prepared at your table, with homemade vanilla bean ice cream

Plus:
Friday: we'll be shucking and serving oysters on the half shell, with WXPI Community Radio DJs spinning delta blues, soul and zydeco

Saturday afternoon: Fete de Gumbo—the Herdic House is opening from 12-4 pm as a special fundraiser for our Mardi Gras charity, WXPI Community Radio. WXPI volunteers will be serving nothing but gumbo—Liz's excellent Cow-A-Hen chicken and sausage gumbo, with rice and french bread. A bowl of gumbo is $10 and all proceeds benefit WXPI—plus we'll have cajun music, drink specials and a rockin' good time...

Saturday evening: WXPI Community Radio sponsors Terry Wild and his Dixie Playboys, from 7:30-10:30. Call now to book a table near the band, or drop in for a drink and stay for a little zydeco dancing...
